Iranian mystics believed in the vertical evolution of man. When humans evolve vertically, they reach Godhood and become aware of the immanent divinity in them. A mystic is beyond all ostentations and manifestations of a man – made religion. To quote ShakeelBadauni, “Pahunchahoonwahannahin dour jahan, Bhagwanbhimerinigahon se” – I have reached that height, when God is not far from my sight. That is the spirit of mysticism.
